GIGATHLON 2010 TEAM OF FIVE
another race, but not on four wheels!! last week end we competed in the multisportevent over two days in switzerland called Gigathlon: in french:

our team of sandra, pascal, marco, gabi and myself finished on the 16th place out of 1000 teams! we were very happy with this result.

sorry, no pic of marco on inline skates yet!

RALLYE MONTE CARLO HISTORIQUE 2010
we are back from the rallye monte carlo 2010..first time with marco as copilote who was willing to share that adventure.it was an excellent edition as far as conditions are concerned. beautiful first stage with a lot of snow after the start in torino, as soon as we drove up to sestriere,it started swowing and we were in RMC mode. however we had to work severalk times on the lancia beta we were using this year due to temperature problems, not too hot but too cold!! there fore freezing carb and several time automatic starter on. but we always managed to continue and finally the car worked very well. as usual, the last night in the turini region was very exciting and coming domw to the port of monaco a 3.am. was a thrilling experience, already looking forward to 2011!!

we finish 5th, taking advantage of some retirements and still hold 3rd in the championship standings.

MONTE CARLO HISTORIQUE 2007
Here are the first pictures of this years MONTE CARLO HISTORIQUE....we started again in torino, home of our FIAT 2300 S Coup?. after expecting very dry and sunny conditions everywhere, we finally found scandinavian conditions after entering the Ardeche Departement. very nice driving on snowcovered roads til we reached St Etienne where the Parc Ferm? was in the hall des expositions, but after 17 hours of driving almost too tired to go and have a look at all the cars there...except for the stratos and blue A 112
then business as usual, many spectators in St. Jean de Royans and some snow and ice again. then down towards south with a nice climb of the Col du Galibier right around sunset before arriving at the Ice Circuit de serre chevallier for a little special stage . over night in Briancon and next day crossing the Alpes Maritimes towards MONACO.as last year, from here on we start having brake problems!! arrival on the harbor and some rest before the final stage that saw some severe damage on the icy roads around col de turini...now I think we are all looking for some Group B cars as michel ferry stated at his speech at the Gala Dinner, that next year, the rally will be open for cars til 1986 ???!? that means that we all have to look for the group B cars this summerjoke or new concept ?

fantastique...nous avons ?t? retenu pour faire le rallye monte carlo historique 10?me edition...

COUPE DES ALPES 2006
This summer we participated for the first time in the coupe des alpes rally, which traditionally sets off from
EVIAN,was making a stopover in CHAMONIX for the first time in its history, at the foot of the Mont Blanc where a dinner was held in a traditional restaurant called ?La Cal?che?. The rally then continued down to VARS in the heart of the Haute-Alpes region. Finally, we were welcomed like stars on the Croisette boulevard in CANNES.
occasion.
the itinerary including two new stopovers, one much further to the south, took us along the Cup?s historical routes, unused to this day, notably in the Haute-Savoie and Provence regions.
We drove over 1000 km in three days, with
33 949 m of ups and downs and over 20 mountain passes, including the highest in the Alpine range (the Iseran which reaches a height of 2,770 m) and the Provence region?s giant, Mount
Ventoux.

TROPHEE EN CORSE 2006
From Thursday 5th October 2006 in the afternoon to Monday 9th in the morning, at the continental departure and arrival (Toulon), we went to spend three full days of driving in Corsica with our FIAT ABARTH 124 CSA that really felt at home on these roads and went extremely well, to discover or rediscover the isle of beauty, following in the steps of a half-century of ?Tour de Corse?, in an off-season when the weather is still mild,
the roadbook led us to a full tour of Corsica, alternating between the seaside and the mountains, in little-known areas of the Cap Corse, the Castagniccia region, the Nebbio and Golo valleys and the Alta Rocca.
Each stage has been carefully selected to guarantee a great diversity of scenery; the citadel of CALVI located in a beutifull gulf discovered by Christopher Colombus, or at BONIFACIO, the island?s southernmost port, with a view of Sardinia and the spectacular limestone cliffs, not forgetting the gastronomic stopovers and the island?s delightful land. Open to post-war sports cars, the TROPHEE RALLYSTORY EN CORSE maintains a limited GT category for recent rally and GT cars, which gave us the opportunity to see some very wide ferraris on the narrow mountain roads.

san remo storico
akita racing was happy to make the trip to san remo. team member pascal ducrot took pascal songo from guadelupe in his alpine renault as navigator on the trip and they enjoyed themselves a lot. pascal followed a maximum attack strategy and did SS times that looked good even compared to those in the FIA speed category. peter naegeli tried to manage the average challenge and finished 13th overall in the targa riviera dei fiori with, as highlight a ex aequo first place in the first stage. on the other hand, peter did not perform well in the so called pressostat tests..

back from the Monte Carlo Rally
just cvame back from the 9th Historic Monte carlo Rally...we made it! i will not talk about results and points and penalties. after losing the brakes (the part i spent the most money on to be sure to be cool) i just made sure to get to the last night and to the final passage of the ramp down in Monaco.
as michel ferry stated in the final speech at the Gala, we experienced the quintessence of the last 30 years of monte carlo rallying!!what an adventure. here are a few images (the ones from Col de turini are missing, will follow later)to share some impressions....enjoy

DOING THE BAJA 2000
In November 2000 I had the great opportunity to take part in the longest non stop race in the desert with a Racing team from Denver., the ?still willing Team?.The Baja 2000 started in Ensenada on Sunday, November 12, and came to its conclusion on Wednesday, November 15, in Cabo San Lucas, at the southern tip of the peninsula, with 70 percent of the 262 starters in 30 categories completing the 1,679.54-mile course. No, not exactly 2,000 miles long?but close enough.

The race drew competitors from 31 states, and countries as far-flung as Mexico, Australia, England, Japan, the Bahamas, France, New Zealand, Switzerland, and Sweden. To place, they would each have to reach the finish line in Cabo within an 80-hour time limit. No problem, right? How hard could it be? The answer to that would come shortly.

At the start near Ensenada, the course headed east along a large section of the classic Score Baja 500 route. A huge sand wash and mudhole right out of Ensenada gave competitors trouble from the beginning, and by the time they?d reached the village of Ojos Negros, a few miles east of the start, it was hard to distinguish one vehicle from the next due to their muddy appearance. The first wave consisted of motorcycles, with Johnny Campbell, of San Clemente, California, in the lead. Along with his co-riders Tim Staab, Craig Smith, and Steve Hengeveld, they made it to the finish in Cabo with the fastest recorded time of 30 hours, 54 minutes, and 12 seconds.
From Ojos Negros, the course turned south to meander through the treacherous San Pedro Martir Mountains near the legendary Mike?s Sky Rancho. The roar of the Trophy Trucks led the way for the four-wheel vehicles, with Robby Gordon in his Ford F-150 in the lead at mile 109.97, just east of Cerro Colorado. Not far behind came defending Baja champion Larry Ragland in his Chevy Trailblazer, off-road legend Ivan Stewart in the PPI Toyota Tundra, and Dan Smith in his F-150 Trophy Truck. Smith and co-driver David Ashley went on to win the race in their Ford F-150 Duralast truck with the best four-wheel-vehicle time of 32 hours, 15 minutes, and 39 seconds. Folks, that?s an average speed of 52.061 mph across some very rough country.

SLALOM DE BI?RE
finally had the opportunity to give my 850 tc a decent run. had the chance to participate to in the heat of swiss slalom championship. the course was 4400 metres long, more like a rally stage than a traditional slalom, the 850 tc went very well, the clutch suffered somehow at the start. result ? don\'t know, i was alone in my category, so i won i guess!
